Let your Yes be Yes and no be no!

Whatever happened to the integrity of an honest answer? Seriously! Life would be so much easier if our yes would be yes and our no be no, wouldn’t it? Let us take a look at some obvious illustrations. For the most part, people do not consume news anymore; they consume a narrative or a version of a story that pushes an agenda. For example, it is why agencies in TV media have MSNBC on one side and Fox on the other. In newsprint, you have the New York Times and the New York Post, and in streaming media, you have the Daily Beast and The Blaze, just to name a few. If you know anything about these entities, you will see that they are all polar opposites, and that is ok; everyone has the right to their own opinion as long as it’s not destructive, murderous, or illegal. Even then, it’s still a point of view. Just be careful what that point of view gets you. Let me be very clear here, opinions and points of view also affect the church. It is the reason why we have over 250 different denominations of Christianity out there. So what is the answer? You have to start on a foundation of truth and facts. This is the same thing Jesus exampled to us before the government in His day. John 18:37-38 Jesus said, “I bear witness to the truth.” Pilate’s response is also quite telling, “What is truth?” It seems as though the truth had escaped Pilate due to all the rhetoric of his day as well. We must substantiate the truth, verify it and educate ourselves on what we speak about with facts. In this life we live, we must represent the truth that Jesus was bearing witness to. Our high calling is to be wise and humble, be approachable, have integrity, and stand up for what is right. Let your Yes be Yes and your No be No. God Bless Keith

Matthew 5:33-37 “Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform your oaths to the Lord.’ 34But I say to you, do not swear at all: neither by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35nor by the earth, for it is His footstool; nor by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36Nor shall you swear by your head, because you cannot make one hair white or black. 37But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.”
